Women Dominate the Civil Service Rankings: Bag the Top Four Positions

The Civil Services Examination-2022 witnessed an extraordinary achievement as women dominated the rankings. Notably, women secured the top four positions, showcasing their exceptional success. Moreover, their influence extended further, with an impressive 12 out of the top 20 ranks being attained by women.

Ishita Kishore, hailing from the family of an Air Force officer, secured the coveted first position. Following closely, Garima Lohia, Uma Harathi N, and Smriti Mishra clinched the second, third, and fourth ranks, respectively.

Ishita, Garima, and Smriti are Delhi University (DU) graduates, whereas Uma holds a BTech degree from the esteemed IIT Hyderabad. Ishita completed her graduation from Sri Ram College of Commerce, affiliated with Delhi University. She selected political science and international relations as her optional subjects, showcasing her interest in these fields.

Garima, who completed her commerce degree from Delhi University’s Kirorimal College, opted for commerce and accountancy as her optional subjects, reflecting her specialisation in these areas. Uma, on the other hand, pursued anthropology as her chosen subject. Smriti, a BSc graduate from Miranda House College, focused on zoology as her optional subject.

Remarkably, women candidates have achieved an outstanding feat for the second consecutive year by grabbing the top three ranks. A total of 933 candidates, comprising 613 men and 320 women, have successfully qualified for the examination. Out of the top 25 candidates, an impressive 14 are women, while the remaining 11 are men.

This balanced representation highlights the remarkable achievements of both women and men in the Civil Services Examination. This achievement sets a positive precedent for equal opportunities and gender inclusivity within the civil services domain.
