IT Industry Witnesses a Twofold Increase in Women Employees in the Last 10 Years

Over the last decade, the Indian tech industry added over a million women, comprising around 36% of its 5.3 million direct employees. In 2012–13, about 9 lakh women were in the Indian IT sector, forming roughly 30% of the 30 lakh employees. Today, this has risen to almost 20 lakh. Inclusive corporate policies, more women opting for computer science studies, and supportive government frameworks for nighttime work are fuelling this progress. TCS has 2.2 lakh female employees, forming 36% of its workforce, while Infosys boasts a female employee count of 130,000, constituting 39.4% of its staff.
