Centre’s Initiative to Educate Women About Water Treatment Processes

The central government has initiated a campaign named ‘Women for Water, Water for Women’ to provide women with direct insight into water treatment processes and ensure clean, safe drinking water within their communities.

Through visits to Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) in their cities, they receive expert guidance on water quality testing protocols, guaranteeing the highest water purity standards.

This initiative, led by the Union Urban Affairs Ministry under its flagship scheme, AMRUT, collaborates with the National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) and the Odisha Urban Academy.

The main areas of focus include educating women about the AMRUT scheme and its significant effects, offering a thorough understanding of water treatment plants, promoting inclusivity through souvenirs and articles made by Women Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and encouraging the use of water-saving devices in homes.
