A Significant Surge in Women’s Promotions in Indian Corporate Law Firms

According to the data released by the specialist legal search firm Vahura, women comprised 40% of promotions within corporate law firms in India, reflecting a notable rise from the 33% recorded before the Covid era.

The majority of promotions were observed in practice areas such as general corporate, dispute resolution, capital markets, real estate, taxation, and intellectual property rights.

The percentage of women among partners at leading corporate law firms falls within the range of 22% to 27%. This percentage range implies that there are approximately 4,500 to 5,000 female partners. Over the last three years, women lawyers have constituted 42–45% of recently appointed partners.
