Congress Pledges Rs 15K per Year for Chhattisgarh Women if Re-Elected

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has announced that if the Congress retains power in the state, women will receive an annual financial aid of 15,000. The assistance will be deposited directly into the bank accounts under the Chhattisgarh Gruha Lakshmi Yojana scheme. The announcement comes before the second phase of the Chhattisgarh assembly elections on Friday. It is seen as a response to the BJP’s promise in their election manifesto to give Rs 12,000 per year to married women.

The initial round of voting took place on November 7 for 20 out of the total 90 assembly seats in the state. Voting for the remaining 70 seats is scheduled for November 17.

The Congress manifesto, unveiled on November 5, included pledges to conduct a caste-based census, provide farm loan waivers, and offer subsidised LPG cylinders to women, among other pledges, if the party is re-elected to power.
