Gender Gap in Post-TBI Depression Revealed

A recent study at the American Society of Anesthesiologists annual meeting unveiled a significant gender disparity in depression rates following traumatic brain injury (TBI). Analysing data from nine studies involving 691,364 participants, 29.3% of women and 21.9% of men developed depression after TBI. Notably, women displayed a 48% higher likelihood of post-TBI depression compared to men. These findings emphasise the need for gender-specific TBI care.
