Women’s Voter Turnout Outshines Men’s in 43 Seats in the Karnataka Assembly Polls 2023

In the 2023 assembly poll held in Karnataka, women voters had a higher turnout than men in six districts out of the total 34 and in 43 out of 224 assembly constituencies.

The female voter turnout throughout the state was 72.7% in the assembly poll, slightly lower than the male voter turnout of 73.6%. Nonetheless, this was an uptick from the 2018 assembly elections, which saw a female voter turnout of 71.5%.

This number solely focuses on data obtained from Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and does not consider postal ballots or home voting. The significant number of voters is a promising sign and suggests that women are progressively recognising and participating in the political arena.
