This Is How the Rural Livelihood Mission Is Empowering Women in UP

Numerous women in rural areas of Uttar Pradesh have become successful entrepreneurs by enrolling in the State Rural Livelihood Mission. They are carving out their paths towards achievement through their skills and dedication.

The Rural Livelihood Mission has a staggering involvement of over 1,27,000 women. They earn a minimum of Rs 10,000 monthly through their participation in various business ventures.

Varanasi boasts an impressive number of 10,635 self-help groups, with a total membership of 1,27,620. Currently, 72,862 women who have joined the Livelihood Mission are bolstering their household economies by embarking on entrepreneurial endeavours.

Self-help group members are entitled to a startup fund of Rs 2,500, a revolving fund worth Rs 15,000, and a community investment fund of Rs 1,10,000.

The Livelihood Mission supports women who engage in a range of activities, including agriculture, animal husbandry, poultry farming, handicrafts, tailoring, grocery sales, floriculture, and power looms. Additionally, they produce and sell products like phenyl and washing powder for use in schools and community health centres.
