Congress Makes Big Promises to Women Voters

With the Lok Sabha elections looming, the Congress party has unveiled its ‘Nari Nyay Guarantee’ campaign, outlining five major initiatives to empower and support women nationwide.

One key commitment, the ‘Mahalaxmi Guarantee,’ promises to provide ₹1 lakh in annual financial assistance to one woman from each impoverished family.

Another initiative, ‘Aadhi Agbadi Poora Haq,’ commits to reserving 50 per cent of new appointments within the central government for women in the workforce.

The ‘Shakti Ka Sammaan’ initiative aims to acknowledge the significant contributions made by Anganwadi, ASHA, and midday meal workers. It involves doubling the central government’s monthly income contribution to these workers.

The party has introduced ‘Adhikar Maitri,’ which entails appointing nodal officers to educate women about their rights and assist them in navigating legal systems effectively. These designated individuals, referred to as ‘women’s friends,’ will have a crucial role in empowering women and advocating for their rights.

The last promise, the ‘Savitribai Phule Hostel’ initiative, addresses the pressing need for secure and affordable accommodation for working women. Congress pledges to construct at least one hostel for working women at every district headquarters, enabling women to pursue employment opportunities.

The ‘Nari Nyay Guarantee’ campaign introduced by Congress aims to showcase its steadfast commitment to championing women’s rights and narrowing the gender gap in the country. Through this comprehensive agenda, the party strives to bring about a significant shift in the upcoming elections.
